GeoWiki is designed with privacy as a core principle. The application does not operate its own backend servers and does not collect, store, process, or transmit personal information to the developer.
When location access is granted, your device provides location information directly to the app so it can display Wikipedia articles, landmarks, and other relevant content near your current position. This location data remains on your device and is used only for the duration of the feature that requires it. The developer does not receive, access, or retain your location information at any time.
GeoWiki does not use location data for analytics, advertising, marketing, user profiling, behavioral tracking, or any other secondary purpose. Your location is never sold, shared, rented, or disclosed to third parties by the app.
GeoWiki does not require user registration and does not create user accounts. The app does not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, device identifiers, precise location histories, contacts, photos, or any other personal information.
Because the app has no backend infrastructure, there is no user database and no mechanism for storing personal data on remote servers controlled by the developer.
To provide content, GeoWiki may access publicly available information from external services such as Wikipedia. Requests made to those services are subject to the privacy policies and practices of the respective providers. GeoWiki itself does not add tracking mechanisms or collect personal information from those interactions.
You may grant or revoke location permission at any time through your device's operating system settings. If location permission is denied, location-based discovery features may not function, but the app will continue to operate without collecting personal information.
The goal of GeoWiki is simple: help users discover nearby Wikipedia content while keeping their information private. The app is intentionally designed to minimize data usage and avoid unnecessary collection of personal information. No location data is stored by the developer, no user profiles are created, and no personal information is collected through a GeoWiki-operated backend because no such backend exists.
